Taste Red Mountain – Woodinville

The Red Mountain AVA returns to Woodinville for a second annual Taste Red Mountain event on April 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Winemaker’s Reserve.

This public tasting will feature 24 Red Mountain AVA wineries alongside bites from Twelve Baskets Catering. Taste Red Mountain is a rare opportunity to taste current and library releases and learn from the winemakers and growers themselves.

Red Mountain AVA is home to some of the best wines in Washington. The region is one of the smallest and most densely planted AVAs in the state, at the base of Red Mountain and bordered to the west by the Yakima River, which provides irrigation and moderates extreme temperatures in the summer and winter.

The vineyards are planted on a southwest slope, providing optimal sun exposure needed to ripen the region’s calling cards: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec. The first vines were planted here in 1975, the region became an AVA in 2001, and Red Mountain has earned worldwide recognition for its top-tier quality ever since.
