This vintage signaled the start of Tyler Walters’ second decade of winemaking in Spokane’s Davenport Arts District alongside barristers Greg Lipsker and Michael White, and the effort with this higher-elevation site on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley is artful. Summit View, part of the famed SeVein project, is between Ferguson and Seven Hills Vineyard. There’s also some influence from Sagemoor’s historic Bacchus Vineyard as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah add to the midpalate. Aromas and flavors of blueberry pie, cherry pie filling and mocha make for an alluring and textured red as ripe and juicy purple fruit trickle acidity over the top of the medium level tannins, leaving room for a pinch of black pepper in the finish.
