Mike Januik has established relationships with some vineyards that no other winemaker can match during his 30 years in Washington, many of those with Ste. Michelle. Despite the hurdles erected on Oct. 10 when unusually early frost event essentially ended late-season ripening, he’s released a wine with elegant aromas of dark blackberry, black cherry and plum, backed by graphite, vanilla and black pepper. On the palate, there’s a big, rich entry of dark cherry, blackberry and cassis with red plum acidity and taut tannins for a bright, full finish.
