One of the Pacific Northwest’s top producers of Pinot Noir continues to help define the Dundee Hills with their flagship bottling. It opens with gorgeous aromas of raspberry, black cherry, black currant, grilled strawberry and cocoa powder, the latter a sign of its 30 percent new oak barrel program. The entry is plush with more strawberry and cherry, backed by darker tones of blueberry and elderberry. Medium acidity, medium tannin and a lovely finish makes it an ideal pairing with alder-planked salmon, braised duck, roasted vegetables and Northwest cheeses such as Cougar Gold and Beecher’s Flagship. It’s a solid Pinot Noir at a reasonable price with good distribution, and the screwcap merely adds to the consistency.
