Chad Stock of Minimus Wines in McMinnville, Ore., is credited with developing this stunning Pinot Noir from the Durant family’s young Pommard block, planted in 2006. The 12-month program of 100% new barrel adds cola and baking spice notes but does not overwhelm the region’s tell-tale, high-toned red fruit profile. Cranberry and red currant aromas and flavors are joined by chalkboard dust, fresh mint and savory notes. Its hallmark is the finely balanced structure with juicy raspberry acidity, blueberry skin tannin and no bitterness.
