The Yakima Valley now lays claim to David O’Reilly, but he still produces wine from Oregon. Five vineyards that contribute to some of his top Pinot Noir bottlings — Anna’s (Chehalem Mountains), Durant (Dundee Hills), Lenné (Yamhill-Carlton), Merriman (Yamhill-Carlton) and Sojourner (Eola-Amity Hills) — come together here. The lot is aged for just 10 months in French oak (25% new barrels) to account for a lighter style Pinot Noir that begins with aromas of cranberry, dusty black cherry, cola, toasted filberts and milk chocolate. The drink continues with a light structure of Bing cherry, red currant and more cola as the acid profile stays ahead of the cherry-skin tannins in the finish.
