Moses Lake winemaker Kyra Baerlocher takes Syrah from her estate Pheasant Vineyard and the program of 30% new Hungarian and American oak allows for a floral and spicy offering that’s loaded with purple fruit. Aromas of dark cherry, plum and blackberry pick up lilac, lavender and black pepper. The palate features more purple fruit, dark blueberry and Bing cherry, framed by well-managed tannins and pleasing acidity that bodes well for barbecued pork ribs and cellaring. The winery at the old military airbase is open only by appointment.
