Tim Wilson drew first from the early-ripening Kiff Vineyard and then Johnson Ridge Vineyard a week later on Oct. 18 for this two-barrel special lot from this stellar vintage. His approach of unfining and unfiltering makes for a nose of dried Bing cherry, orange oil and milk chocolate with pinches of cherry pipe tobacco and clove. Its entry of Montmorency cherry and pomegranate builds to succlence, finishing with sandy tannins and plum juice. It’s easy to imagine this with grilled pork loin.
