Adam Campbell and his parents have experienced a number of classic vintages for Oregon Pinot Noir, and they view the early quality of 2014 alongside those from 1988 and 2002. Adam and his wife, Carrie, went in as partners with his folks when they purchased Mount Richmond Vineyard in 1996, and the 105-acre site has produced one of Elk Cove’s best efforts to date with this bottling. Adam selected fruit from clones of Pommard, 115 and 777 for this sensual Pinot Noir that features aromas of strawberry jam and blueberry with milk chocolate, toasted almond, juniper berry and dusty sage. Its silky mouth feel allows for gorgeous flavors of huckleberry and Marionberry with vanilla cream. Gentle bittersweet chocolate tannins and blueberry pie acidity combine for a bright and velvety finish. Fortunately, the bountiful 2014 harvest allowed Elk Cove to increase production of its Mount Richmond offering by more than 60 percent.
