Scott Greenberg’s work with these two barrels of Malbec from the Williams family’s Heart of the Hill Vineyard on Red Mountain have found the zone after two years in bottle. Tantalizing aromas following 28 months in neutral French oak include blueberry granola, cherry and dried apricot along with some savoriness of porcini mushroom as the palate is reminiscent of blackberry jam and plum. Tannins are refined yet present, leaving room for secondary notes of flint, clove and cherry skins. The North Bend, Wash., producer suggests serving it with roasted meats.
