Agustin Huneeus and Phillipe Melka became friends while Melka worked in Napa on the Quintessa wines for Huneeus. Their seventh release for Walla Walla’s famed Long Shadows portfolio is dedicated to Bordeaux varieties and leans heavily on Red Mountain and venerable Sagemoor in its blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (57%), Merlot (27%), Cabernet Franc (13%) and Malbec. The nose brings in scents of a humidor along with fresh fig and moist Medjool dates, cola and Tootsie Roll. Black cherry and black currant flavors provide a juicy and hedonistic entry as the profile of tannin and black pepper takes over.
