Desert Hills Vineyard is farmed by the denHoed family and is in a cool area of Washington’s Yakima Valley. This superb Merlot from a Kennewick, Wash., winery opens with aromas of strawberry, cinnamon, cedar and smoked bacon. On the palate, it unveils flavors of red currant, Van cherry and rich boysenberry. The tannins provide structure without being aggressive, and the finish offers smoke, cherry and black tea.
