Dusted Valley Vintners 2011 Chardonnay, Columbia Valley, $29
Walla Walla’s brothers-in-law from Wisconsin deepen their relationship with the Milbrandt brothers, which allows them to reap the benefits of reaching into one of Washington’s top vineyards for white wines — Evergreen Vineyard in the Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley. It’s 100 percent barrel fermented, so it shows classic aromas of ripe banana, pear, fresh-baked bread and clarified butter. There’s a nice preservation of fruit on the palate hinting at sweet pineapple and poached pear, backed by grapefruit, a sign of the remarkable acidity that’s a hallmark of so many Dusted Valley wines. It is soldout at the winery, so seek assistance from your local wine merchant.
