Smasne Cellars 2010 Upland Vineyard Single Row Zinfandel, Snipes Mountain, $34
By Great Northwest Wine on November 3, 2013
Robert Smasne and grower Todd Newhouse of Upland Vineyard make great wines together, whether it be for the Newhouse clan’s Upland Estates brand or Smasne’s own label. This is one of 35 varieties grown on this fascinating single-AVA site in the Yakima Valley, and the resulting wine opens complex aromas of ripe strawberry, cherry juice, dark currant, blackberry, tomato vine and pipe tobacco. The drink brings a smooth and juicy entry of dark red fruit with plush tannins.
