The investment behind this Walla Walla showpiece of Michael Corliss shows immediately in the nose, which features dark chocolate — a sign of the 30-month French oak program of 70% new barrels. Behind that are complex Cab notes of chalkboard dust, minerality, slate, eucalyptus and fig. The fluid is smooth and fruit-forward, leading with blackberry and currant. Supple tannins and blueberry acidity are met with a finish of horehound.
