Milbrandt Vineyards 2012 Traditions Chardonnay, Columbia Valley, $13
By Great Northwest Wine on January 22, 2014
Best Buy! Joshua Maloney’s winemaking has helped turn the Traditions tier for Milbrandt Vineyards into one for consumers to seek. And with combined production of its five core varieties reaching 50,000 cases, this brand looks to be gaining traction in the marketplace. Three estate sites — Purple Sage, Sundance and the much vaunted Evergreen — contribute hints of sweet lemon, clarified butter, artichoke hearts and candela leaf tobacco. The flavor profile amid a medium body features a clean entry of lemon yogurt, backed by baked pear, vanilla, a line of minerality and a lovely long citrusy finish.
Rating: Outstanding!
Production: 6,000 cases
Alcohol: 12.5%
