The Clubbs have been creating this Meritage-style bottling since 1993, and they remain some of the Northwest’s most coveted and cellar-worthy wines. The formula for this edition was Cabernet Sauvignon (56%), Merlot (33%), Malbec (7%) and Cabernet Franc, and it spent 22 months in small French oak barrels, half of them new. The nose shows that investment with aromas of black currant and black cherry fruit leather, backed by bittersweet chocolate and cocoa powder. There’s a solid core of blackberry, black cherry and plum flavors, and the structure is built for the long haul with big, up-front tannins. Enjoy now with well-marbled steak or put aside for safe keeping.
