Kriselle Cellars 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, Rogue Valley, $32
Owner/winemaker Scott Steingraber made small lots of wine in California and Washington before launching his 2,500-case winery in Oregon’s Rogue Valley north of Medford. His yet-to-be-released Cabernet Sauvignon is youthful, exuberant and fruit-forward with notes of black cherry, plum, raspberry and toasted oak with delicious balance of tannin and acidity. This wine received a bronze medal at the 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition for the $30-$34.99 price category. Look for it starting Valentine Day’s weekend at the White City tasting room and online. Kriselle wines also are available at Rogue Valley wine shops Elegance, Pacific Wine Club and Twisted Cork as well as Ashland Wine Cellar, Liquid Assets, SOS and the Harry and David Country Store.
