Ned Morris took over at this Walla Walla Valley showpiece winery and resort in 2012, and this wine is a classic Cab with opulence from start to finish. A barrel program of 50% new French oak allows for aromas of Chukar Cherry, but the wood doesn’t get in the way of hints of minerality. Inside, it’s dominated by cherries and milk chocolate, while the juicy acidity stays just ahead of well-managed tannins. Earlier this year, it won a gold medal in its price category at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, and Basel Cellars wines can be found in the Pacific Northwest, Virginia and Wisconsin.
