Convergence Zone Cellars 2012 Upland Vineyard Sunbreak Chenin Blanc, Snipes Mountain, $19
By Great Northwest Wine on February 15, 2014
The Newhouse family of the Yakima Valley planted these vines in 1979 at 1,200 feet elevation on their Snipes Mountain vineyard, and Scott Greenberg produced the wine in his Woodinville, Wash., winery. Aromas of peach blossom, spiced apple, jicama and lemongrass evolve into flavors of guava, baked apple and Apple Jacks cereal. The residual sugar sits at 1.7%, so serve well-chilled and pair it with hot wings, pineapple-glazed ham or a California roll.
