For the previous vintage, Rhône aficiando Ron Bunnell blended matching amounts of these four Rhone whites varieties, but in 2011 he led with Viognier (51%) and supported it with Marsanne (28%), Picpoul (13%) and Grenache Blanc. There’s a richness to the nose with aromas of ripe pear and apricot with hints of butterscotch, vanilla and lanolin. There’s a match on the complex palate as all those tones come rushing in with richness, yet it’s backed gloriously with acidity. This wine earned a silver medal at the 2014 Seattle Wine & Food Experience Wine Competition, and it can be enjoyed at Wine O’Clock in Prosser at the Vintners Village.
