The slogan that Lloyd Anderson created for his Olympic Peninsula winery is “Experience the Rhône.” This blend of Southern Rhône varities — Grenache (20%), Mourvèdre (30%) and Syrah — serves as a hedonistic example. The nose brings thoughts of dark boysenberry, cherry pie, bittersweet chocolate, bacon fat, cedar and oak spice. On the pour is a gorgeous entry of ripe plum and blackberry with crisp bacon. While it offers round and supple tannins, boysenberry acidity gives its balance and length leading into the finish of dark chocolate and a hint of minerality. This wine received a gold medal at the 2014 Capital Food & Wine Festival Wine Competition.
