Woodinville vintner Doug Long continues his tradition with superb big reds from Red Mountain with this estate Cab that includes dabs of Merlot (7%) and Malbec (3%). Hedonism for oak aficionados begins with aromas that feature a flare of blackberry jam on dark toast over the top of chocolate, black pepper and Wheaties. Next comes a beautiful entry of dark plums, sweet huckleberry and chocolate-covered cherries with ample, yet rounded, tannins backed by blueberry acidity. Its medium structure finishes with notes of minerality. This was awarded a silver medal at the 2014 Seattle Wine & Food Experience Wine Competition, and while the regular bottling recently was sold through, large formats — including some in the 9-liter Salmanazar size — are available.
