The Gordon family north of Pasco, Wash., welcomed its third commercial vintage of this Iberian variety off their site overlooking the Snake River, and they’ve continue to smooth it out by blending in Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). It opens with aromas of black cherry and raspberry with barrel notes of chocolate and toasted coconut. There’s good richness on the palate with dark cherry and pomegranate, a rather plush feel from the tannins and good length of acidity. This wine received a silver medal at the 2014 Seattle Wine and Food Experience Wine Competition.
