Oregon winemaker Ron Helbig’s wide-ranging blend of Syrah (33%), Barbera (17%), Sangiovese (17%), Nebbiolo (8%), Malbec (8%) and Tempranillo from north of the border comes together as a nice little red wine. The nose is filled with plums, pomegranate, cherries and Jolly Rancher grape candy. Inside, it’s a bright, red-toned drink with fresh-picked plums, blueberry, pomegranate and bittersweet chocolate. While most of his lineup is guarded by Vino-Lok, he turned to screwcap for this bottling as he no longer works with any natural cork.
