Garden State native Matt Compton moved to Oregon and worked in the wine industry for a decade before he launched his family-owned winery in Philomath in 2006. He pulled from two Polk County sites — Croft and Esterling vineyards — for this fresh and vibrant offering that launches with aromas of strawberry, pie cherry, blood orange and a pinch of moist earth. Inside, it features a fistful of Montmorency cherry, President plum and cranberry. The hallmark is its terrific acidity, and the enjoyable finish carries along notes of dried strawberry and more blood orange.
