Aryn Morrell’s first vintage making wine for the Lawrence family included this clonal blend of Joseph Phelps (66%) and Tablas Creek (34%) from their Frenchman Hills plantings, and they invested in a barrel program of 70% new French oak. Aromas of blackberry and blueberry include touches of bacon and black pepper. Blueberry, purple plum and savory flavors lead the way into the palate that flashes bright acidity and mild tannins, leading to a finish of blackberry, moist earth and gaminess.
