There’s an amazing amount of quality coming into Long Shadows Vintners from Boushey, StoneTree and Weinbau vineyards, but only the top cut makes it into labels such as Chester-Kidder, Feather, Pedestal, Pirouette, Saggi and Sequel. There are nine hats involved in the Walla Walla showpiece, and winemaker extraordinare Gilles Nicault skillfully weaved this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (33%), Sangiovese (20%), Malbec (15%), Merlot (15%), Syrah (10%) and Petit Verdot, offering it at half the price of the group’s highly acclaimed red portfolio. Its expressive nose includes blackberry, purple plum and blueberry taffy, along with lime peel, thyme, charcoal and minerality. Those same fruits form the core of the palate, joined by boysenberry, Western serviceberry and cocoa. The structure is rich and beautiful with fine-grained blueberry seed tannins and finished with baking spices.
