This spring, this Cab by Joshua Maloney had barely been released to the public when it earned a gold medal at the 2014 Great Northwest Wine Competition. And it is showing no signs of slowing down. Six estate vineyards along the Wahluke Slope help provide the aromas of cherries, blackberry, blueberry and chocolate, along with touches of hazelnut coffee, black pepper and mint. The pour brings plump, plush and delicious flavors of black cherry, blackberry and black licorice. Those fruit tones push from beginning to its yummy finish amid an approachable — and a bit hedonistic — structure. And thanks to a prolific vintage, Maloney was able to increase production by 55 percent.
