Chelan Estate 2008 Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir, Lake Chelan, $25
By Great Northwest Wine on August 26, 2014
Clone 13 Pinot Noir, also known as Gm (Geisenheim) 18, has found a home in some Wenatchee Valley vineyards, including this 8-acre site planted in earned along the south shore of Lake Chelan starting in 2000. Harvest during the first week of October helped created aromas of Hostess Raspberry Pie, blueberry and Marionberry along with brown sugar and caramel. Endearing flavors continue along the line of Rader Farms Triple Berry Blend with a lighter structure that picks up baked cherry, pomegranate and cherry-skin tannins. This earned a silver medal at the 2014 North Central Washington Wine Awards.
