Leah Jørgensen Cellars 2013 Mae’s Vineyard Blanc de Cabernet Franc, Applegate Valley, $30
By Great Northwest Wine on August 31, 2014
This sassy “Loiregonian” made a big splash last year with her 2012 Tour Rain Vin Rouge blend of Cabernet Franc and Gamay, and Wine Press Northwest’s reigning Oregon Winery to Watch continues that devotion with this stylistic and serious vineyard-designate white Cabernet Franc. Expressive aromas of lemon Starburst, strawberry, white peach and dried jalapeno lead into racy and well-integrated flavors of plum and cherry, backed by a lightning bolt of acidity. Suggested fare includes oysters, scallops, pork chops with apple compote or Bavarian weisswurst.
