Mercer Estates 2011 Reserve Cavalie, Columbia Valley, $40
By Great Northwest Wine on September 7, 2014
This Meritage-style blend leads with Merlot (63%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (21%), while the Malbec (11%) and Petit Verdot came off Spice Cabinet Vineyard. Toasted oak, ripe plum, stewed cherries and baking spice aromas funnel into an easy-drinking profile of sweet black fruit. Chocolate-covered pomegranate and a plump finish make this a quaffer stretching into its peak of enjoyment.
