Juan Pablo Valot tightened the focus at this Eugene, Ore., winery with the state’s signature white grape, producing a third of what the winemaking team did just two years prior. From his second vintage as head winemaker, he fashioned a vibrant Pinot Gris that kicks off with aromas of Asian pear, Apple Crisp out of the oven and dusty minerality. The entry is packed with orchard fruit flavors akin to white peach, Gala apple and more Asian pear, capped by bright acidity and Granny Smith apple peel bite. Enjoy this Pinot Gris with things from the sea, and the Silvan Ridge wines are widely distributed via Young’s Market Co.
