By Great Northwest Wine on September 28, 2014
Gunkel Vineyards, which is near Craig and Vicki Leuthold’s showpiece winery, has been a core source of grape since the winery was founded in 2001. Aromas of red cherry, cocoa, toasted oak, red pepper and oregano transition into a drink of high tones and lighter style that hints at strawberry and sweet cherry juice with accents of chocolate, baking spice and a finish of raspberry. Suggested pairings range from Chicken Marsala, stuffed pork chops and lamb or a fruit-and-cheese plate.
