Lake Chelan winemaker Jonathan Kludt’s use of French and Hungarian oak over 30 months sets the table for a rather fascinating and robust Merlot that opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, plum and dark chocolate with notes of sesame oil and leaf tobacco. The drink carries a bold and hairy-chested structure with delicious tones of blackberry, blueberry and chocolate. At the Winemaker’s Grill — just beyond the thresh of the tasting room — they enjoy serving this with lamb chops or filet mignon.
