By Great Northwest Wine on October 24, 2014
Puget Sound sailors/winemakers Derek Berger and Scott Heinrich envision themselves plying the waters of the Gironde River in Bordeaux with Merlot vineyards on the starboard side and Cabernet Sauvignon on the port side when they created this 50/50 blend from Heart of the Hill, Shaw, Scooteney and Red Mountain vineyards. There’s a breath of boysenberry, dusty Van cherry, sweet herbs and black licorice before a stream of flavors akin to blueberry, black cherry and boysenberry. Dark chocolate tannins and juicy acidity provide a good anchor to the finish.
