One of the Washington wine industry’s workhorse vineyards — Alder Ridge with its sandy loam soil — builds 90 percent of this offering by Prosser vintner Gordon Taylor. He’s produced a wine that starts with aromas of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate with Almonds, plum, cherry soda, dried herbs and smoke, followed by flavors of ripe Van cherry, black currant and plum. Fine blueberry seed tannin, dusty minerality, pleasing acidity and vanilla carry the finish nicely. Suggested food pairings include bouillabaisse, burgers, lasagna and Nicoise Salad.
