Finn Hill Winery 2012 Corfu Crossing Vineyard Syrah, Columbia Valley, $30
By Great Northwest Wine on November 7, 2014
Rob Entrekin lives on Kirkland’s Finn Hill, a neighborhood originally cleared a century ago by families from Finland, but the biomedical engineer now makes his wine in Woodinville. His source for this Syrah is near Royal City, Wash., from the Lawrence family’s block of Sara Lee clones. The wine leans toward a smoky, savory and gamy style, backed by blackberry, blueberry and maple syrup tones. Plum skin tannins and the influence of those 50% new French oak barrels make this toasty and sturdy with pomegranate acidity that should play well with a duck breast. These wines are available at the winery, via the website or on Amazon.
