Barrage Cellars 2010 Outcast Cabernet Franc, Yakima Valley, $35
By Great Northwest Wine on November 9, 2014
Even though Kevin Correll won’t blend varieties, he loves to blend vineyards, and in the case of his Cabernet Franc, the Woodinville, Wash. winemaker combines two of the state’s best — Boushey and Red Willow. The nose features boysenberry, dried black cherry, macerated plum, cocoa powder and sage. Flavors lead with spiced plum and dark chocolate with bold tannins. It’s backed by a spicy and zesty finish of Montmorency cherry and pomegranate.
