The Kludt family’s Home Vineyard serves as the source for this cherry and oak-influenced Syrah, the result of 30 months in French and Hungarian barrels. Brown sugar, heavy toast and horehound notes add to the nose, which is followed by a big entry of cherry, chocolate, blackstrap molasses and light tobacco. It’s capped by mild tannins and stuffed dates. No fees are charged at their Manson tasting room, and across the threshold is the family’s Winemaker’s Grill, where they suggested enjoying this Syrah with baked brie with caramelized onions and walnuts or filet mignon.
