Left Coast Cellars 2013 Unoaked Chardonnay, Willamette Valley, $18
By Great Northwest Wine on December 27, 2014
Of the 104 planted acres in Rickreall, Ore., by viticulturalist/founding winemaker Luke McCollom, 12 acres are devoted to Chardonnay clonal material Dijon 95, 96 and 108. This marks the inaugural release of unwooded Chardonnay, which offers aromas of honeydew melon, Golden Delicious apple, pear, jasmine and baking spices. The entry is clean and straightforward with apple, pear and apricot, finished with jicama and green tea notes.
