Brooks Wines 2010 Rastaban Brooks Estate Vineyards Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills, $55
By Great Northwest Wine on January 6, 2015
Last fall, Janie Brooks Heuck celebrated the winery’s new tasting room and this edition of Rastaban — an Arabic term for one of the brightest stars in the galaxy — continues to serve as a remarkable example of the Eola-Amity Hills American Viticultural Area. Aromas of crushed red fruit are joined by cocoa, white pepper, saddle leather and earthiness. Ripe president plum, blueberry, elderberry and pomegranate flavors bring a rush of acidity with late-arriving tannins that create nice tension. Suggested pairings include a salad with clementines, dried cherries, almonds and Asiago cheese.
