Founding winemaker Harry Peterson-Nedry hung in the pocket until Oct. 28 to complete a long TD toss during this latest harvest in Chehalem’s history. The gorgeous nose of black cherry, pomegranate, Marionberry, lilac and crushed herbs leads to a focused core of Rainier cherry, ripe raspberry and plum flavors. Fetching tannins and a finish of French vanilla ice cream make for a supple, luscious and sexy wine that should age gracefully. Suggested pairings include fowl, lamb, salmon and freshly foraged mushrooms. They’ve nearly sold through this vintage at the tasting room near The Painted Lady in downtown Newberg, and bottles also are available via Amazon.
