San Juan Vineyards 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, Horse Heaven Hills, $28
By Great Northwest Wine on February 22, 2015
Even in this cool vintage, prolific Destiny Ridge Vineyard overlooking Crow Butte Park and the Columbia River helped this Friday Harbor winery to double production from 2010. Aromas of black currant, Bing cherry, dark toast and bittersweet chocolate are realized as flavors. Blackberry juiciness, pomegranate acidity and black tea tannins are joined by graphite minerality in the finish, often a hint of Horse Heaven Hills terroir. Enjoy alongside well-marbled meats and hearty sauces.
