Delfino Vineyards 2011 Merlot, Umpqua Valley, $28
By Great Northwest Wine on March 7, 2015
This Roseburg, Ore., destination winery creates this Merlot in an Old World fashion, offering a lighter style with notes of red currant, Montmorency cherry and cola with notes of dried Italian herbs and cocoa powder. Its structure of bright acidity and firm tannins will lend itself to Coq au Vin and duck breast in a cherry sauce.
