Roseburg, Ore., vintner Jim Delfino and Ashland consultant Linda Donovan continue to showcase estate fruit and feral fermentation in their interpretation with this Italian variety that translates to “sweet little one.” It’s winsome sitting in the glass with its dark garnet color and perfumy with alluring hints of raspberry jam, president plum, cola and fig with cedar and cinnamon spice. The lively, spicy and juicy flavor profile is reminiscent of some Grenache grown in Washington, bringing red currant and pomegranate, a dash of white pepper, a slice of black olive and a finish of cranberry.
