Kestrel Vintners 2013 Falcon Series Sauvignon Blanc, Columbia Valley, $17
By Great Northwest Wine on March 20, 2015
One of the Yakima Valley’s most respected wineries reaches across the state line and into Smith-Cerne Vineyard near The Dalles, Ore., for this Sauvignon Blanc by longtime winemaker Flint Nelson. He’s developed a style loaded with tones of gooseberry, Granny Smith apple, dusty Asian pear, straw and lime. It takes a lean angle with its tart approach, which is capped by lime juice, making it a great wine with oysters, grilled shrimp, citrus salad and the patio. This wine earned a silver medal at the 2015 Seattle Wine and Food Experience Wine Awards.
