Cairdeas Winery 2013 Southern White, Yakima Valley $22
Last year, Lake Chelan vintners Charlie and Lacey Lybecke celebrated the fifth anniversary of the brand they created in West Seattle, and along the way they’ve developed relationships with some of the state’s top growers. That’s exemplified in this blend of white Rhone varieties from Boushey and Lawrence vineyards. Their treatment of Marsanne (32%), Grenache Blanc (27%), Roussanne (24%), Picpoul Blanc (14%) and Viognier spent just enough time in new French oak (5%) on the lees to create aromas of butter, toast, ripe pear and dried pineapple. The palate is clean and bright with flavors of Golden Delicious apple, lemongrass and lemon peel.
