This spring marks the 10th anniversary of Lloyd Anderson’s tasting room in Shelton, Wash., and his blend of Sangiovese with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre showcases the food-friendly acidity one would expect from these varieties. It’s loaded with tones of ripe purple fruit such as blackberry jam and plum, which are joined by pomegranate and blueberry. Notes of white chocolate, white pepper and NECCO Wafer add to its lingering complexity, which is complemented by a juicy farewell. This earned a silver medal at the 2015 Capital Food and Wine Festival Competition in connection with the St. Martin’s University Alumni Association.
