Marc Roland works with small lots from some of Washington state’s top vineyards and offers them to his fans in Longview, Wash., and here’s a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon off Stillwater Creek, Merlot from Red Willow Vineyard and Cabernet Franc from Dineen Vineyard. Aromas of cherry jam, plum and grilled cherry tomato pick up notes of toffee, black tea, nutmeg and dried herbs. The smooth entry of red currant and President plum leads to a skillful balance of tannin and acidity. The influence of Cab Franc shows up in the finish of sweet herbs, which are joined by dark raspberries. These wines are available via the website and at his winery near Longview Country Club.

Tasting Notes: This wine has rich dark fruit flavors with smooth integrated tannins. It is a blend of Merlot (75%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (25%). Aged in new French and American oak for 16 months. This is an elegant wine with layers of flavor. Look for black current, licorice, vanilla, and spice.
